New York City’s Metropolitan Opera provides free live audio streaming of performances on its website once every week during the opera season. The service debuted in 2006.
"Streaming operas live on the internet is the most immediate experience we can provide to opera lovers all over the world and a new way to introduce opera to the uninitiated," says Peter Gelb, the Met's general manager.
Puccini’s Tosca premieres Live, Tuesday, October 4, at 7:25 pm (ET).
Visit the Met’s Live Audio Stream platform five minutes ahead of curtain time to hear the broadcast’s commentary. Also, click on the operas shown in the list on the Live Audio Streams page for each production’s synopsis, program, history, and cast information.
